Fed up with art sites

I'm getting so fed up with art sites ever since the whole discussion about tracing and copying and fanart started. I'm not so good at drawing, so I mostly stick with writing, and all the art I have up is fanart. I've cited the sources and everything to give credit to the original artists.
Now they are saying that fanart shouldn't be up in your main gallery because you only do it to practise and all, so it should be in your portfolio or scrapbook. Since it isn't really your art it shouldn't be up.
That really makes me want to stick to my writing. But what comes next? Fanfiction? I'm proud of my fanfiction, because it was a great learning pro
